One of the things I pride myself on most would have to be the fact that I do a pretty good job of being real with myself. So, for the sake of "being real with myself", I'll admit that this post is reflective of me being a little lazy. I've been quite busy lately and haven't put much thought into what I wanted my next post to be about. And since I made it a goal of mine to post something every two weeks or so (which I've been failing miserably at lately) I've decided to take the easy way out by sharing some of my favorite quotes - hope you enjoy!
I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened. - Mark Twain
Sound familiar? How many times have you stressed yourself out over things that never ended up happening? If it's not within your direct control, there's no use worrying about it. Learn to let go of the little things and you'll find yourself enjoying life a whole lot more.
Never interrupt someone doing what you said couldn't be done. - Amelia Earhart
In other words, don't be a hater. If you want to sit around and do a whole lot of nothing then that's your choice; but that automatically revokes your right to tell anyone that they aren't capable of doing something.
In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Everyone is better than you at something. If you make it a habit to stop and take the time to figure out what that is with everyone you meet, you'll end up with a diverse and extensive knowledge base you might've never had otherwise.
Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be. - Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
People tend to have a hard time believing in themselves until someone else believes in them first. Give someone a great reputation to live up to and watch how quickly it becomes their reality.
And my all-time favorite...
However, I continue to try and I continue, indefatigably, to reach out; there's no way I can single-handedly save the world or, perhaps, even make a perceptible difference - but how ashamed I would be to let a day pass without making one more effort. - Isaac Asimov
No single person can save the world - attempting to do so can sometimes feel like the ultimate uphill battle -but that's no reason to stop. Remember that the wicked never triumph because of their own actions, but rather because of the inaction of the just. And because of that, we can NEVER take a day off...
